The next Regular Municipal Election will be held on November 7, 2017. There will be four council seats up for election. The nomination petition period will run from August 8, 2017 to August 28, 2017.
Candidates are expected to read and familiarize themselves with information included in the Candidate Packet It includes general information about the election process, duties of municipal office, and requirements under the Fair Campaign Practices Act. Please contact the town clerk to request any information in hard copy.
During the nomination petition period, those interested in running for office must visit the Town Clerk's Office, 135 West Columbia, to pick up a petition. Petitions cannot be picked up prior to August 8th. Candidates will then need to secure at least 25 signatures of registered voters who reside within the town limits to become certified. Fair Campaign Practices Act
Candidates and Committees are subject to campaign finance filing requirements under the Fair Campaign Practices Act. Please see Campaign Finance for forms and additional instructions.
Each Councilperson, when elected, shall be a registered elector and shall have resided in the Town of Telluride for one (1) year immediately preceding the election. No Councilperson shall be a salaried employee of the Town during his or her term of office.
By signing a petition, you must affirm you are a registered elector in the Town of Telluride and provide your name and address. Electors are not permitted to sign more than four petitions in the November 2017 election.
